Hi there! I’m Dora Robinette, a coder and web developer with a deep passion for technology and community empowerment. My journey kicked off when my mom gifted me my first computer at 13 in the 80s, sparking a lifelong love for tech. Inspired by my grandfather, an engineer at NASA, and my uncle, a physicist, they encouraged me to enter into technology and develop my skills.  Listening to their motivation I realized that as a girl, I could break barriers in computer science. I studied French and Linguistics at the University of California, Davis, and later continued my education at DeAnza University, focusing on computer science and machine learning. As a self-taught enthusiast, I dove into 3D graphics coding and machine learning. In 2012, I envisioned the Black Business Map, a project dedicated to supporting and promoting Foundational Black American-owned businesses, inspired by the Green Book. In 2022 I decided to bring that envision to existence. It’s been a rewarding two years bringing this idea to life! I’m excited to keep innovating and building community. I hope you find this website both a safe space and a helpful resource in your search for amazing Foundational Black American businesses.
